Request a Copy of a Police Report
The VPD's Correspondence Unit can supply a copy of a police report to you if you have reported or been involved in a property offence incident. Examples of property offence incidents are:
- theft
- theft from auto
- theft of auto
- lost property
- mischief (vandalism)
- break and enter
With your consent, your insurance company can make this request on your behalf. In most cases your police report number is sufficient for the VPD to locate your file.
How to Make a Police Report Request
Payment / Fee
The cost to process a request for a police report is $50.00. Cheques should be made payable to the City of Vancouver.
For tourists visiting Vancouver, the fee is waived.
By Mail
Requests can be mailed to the VPD, accompanied by the processing fee.
Please include in your letter:
- your police file number (general occurrence number)
- your full name
- your current address
- a telephone number you can be reached at
- the location where the incident occurred
- the type of incident that took place
- any other details that may assist us in locating the incident in the VPD's records
Place your letter and payment in an envelope and mail to:

In Person – Urgent Requests
For urgent requests, please bring cash payment only to the Public Service Counter at the VPD's 312 Main St. location.
Out-of-Town Visitors
For out-of-town visitors who do not want to mail in the request and cannot come in person, please email your request (including all information outlined above) to vpdcu@vpd.ca.
